Janet L. Bernard is a retired school district administrator from San Diego County, CA. She taught Grades K through 9 prior to entering school administration. As an administrator, she worked in five different school districts in the County, as a School Principal, Assistant Principal, Instructional Specialist, Director in Human Resources, Director of Curriculum, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services, and Superintendent.
She has facilitated numerous workshops on gifted and talented education, strategic planning, cultural competency, critical thinking, and effective teaching strategies. Janet attended Michigan State University, CA State University Northridge, and graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. Degree in the Social Sciences, and minors in Music and English. She completed her Lifetime Teaching Credential, an M.A. in Educational Leadership, and the Lifetime Admin. Services Credential, also at S.D. State University.
Janet is most proud of the many teachers she inspired and mentored to enter school administration. In her retirement, Janet volunteers her time to organizations that actively support prison reform. She enjoys watching college and professional sports, listening to all genres of music, and playing her cello.
